Refrigerated Container Electrical Requirements

Refrigerated Container Electrical Requirements

  1. Electrical System Compatibility: Cascade Container's reefer units require a three-phase electrical system. The standard supply voltage is 440/460 volts. Units can also operate with 208/230 volt three-phase transformers and are compatible with both 50 and 60 Hz frequencies.
  2. Grounding and Circuit Protection: A grounded power supply is mandatory for safety. For 440/460 volt systems, a minimum of 30-amp circuit breakers is required, while 208/230 volt systems should have circuit breakers rated at a minimum of 50 amps.

  3. Voltage Tolerance: The reefer containers are designed to accommodate a voltage variance of (+) or (-) 15%, providing flexibility in varying power conditions.

  4. Professional Installation: We recommend that a certified electrician perform the installation. The units come with an external disconnect feature and can handle large variances in voltage and frequency, including international standards (50Hz).

  5. Delivery and Plug Specifications: Each reefer container is equipped with a 460-volt cable and an ISO standard CE power plug (18 meters/59 feet in length).

  6. Surge Protection: Our reefer units are equipped with internal circuit breakers and fuses for protection against power surges. However, external surge protection measures are strongly advised.

  7. Welding Guidelines: Avoid arc welding on or near the container or any conductive surface it is resting on. This is to protect the sensitive electronic circuits in the control system from damage.

  8. Rotation Auto-Correction: The units feature an auto-correction system for rotation on startup, simplifying the setup process and ensuring operational efficiency.

Additional Guidelines for Optimal Performance:

  • Ventilation: Ensure the container is placed in a well-ventilated area to facilitate efficient airflow and cooling system performance.
  • Regular Maintenance: Schedule regular maintenance checks to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the reefer unit.
  • Safe Operating Practices: Adhere to all safety guidelines and operational procedures as outlined in the user manual to ensure safe and effective use of the container.
  • Service Support: Are team is available for technical support in case of problems or breakdowns.
